Wearable Tree Art Necklace

More than a necklace - a little piece of a tree's story, made to be worn.

This handcrafted wooden necklace is created from sensitively selected, sustainably sourced Blackthorn wood grown in the Stroud area of Gloucestershire.

The tree is the artist.

Long before I begin working with the wood, the tree has already been creating - its grain, colour, markings and patterns shaped through years of growth, by time, season and place.

My role is to work slowly with the wood, using traditional craft to reveal what is already there, transforming a small part of the tree into unique wearable Tree Art.

No two pieces will ever be quite the same.

Blackthorn has traditionally been associated with Transformation, Endurance and Protection - qualities that invite us to reflect on transformation through difficult times, endurance in the face of adversity, and protection through recognising and maintaining our boundaries.

Each necklace comes with a Blackthorn Tree Wisdom Card, sharing the qualities, stories and traditional symbolism associated with the tree.

Made by Hand, From Tree to Jewellery

Each piece is individually made using traditional woodworking techniques and hand tools.

The wood is carefully selected, sawn and split before being shaped with an axe and drawknife and turned on a foot-powered lathe. The pendant is then individually cut, carved and refined by hand.

Every cut, turn and facet reveals something that was already there - the art created by the tree.

The finished pendant is treated with a naturally derived hard wax oil, protecting the wood while allowing its grain, colour and character to remain at the heart of the piece.

Wood is a natural material, and every piece has its own grain, colour, markings and subtle variations.

These aren't imperfections. They are part of the character created by the tree and what makes your piece of Tree Art unique.

Caring for Your Tree Art

The hard wax oil finish provides light protection, but natural wood remains sensitive to moisture.

·       Avoid prolonged contact with water.

·       Remove your necklace before bathing, swimming or showering.

·       Occasionally nourish the wood with a very small amount of the supplied flax oil.

With a little care, your Tree Art can continue to develop its own beautiful character over time.
