Walnut has been valued by people for both its nuts and its remarkable wood for centuries. Slow-growing and long-lived, an unassuming exterior can conceal some of the richest colour and figuring of any tree in the collection.

THE ART

Walnut can reveal deep chocolate browns, softer warm tones, dark lines and beautifully flowing grain. No two sections behave quite alike. At jewellery scale, a small fragment can contain enough variation to resemble an entire abstract composition.
