Yew occupies an extraordinary place in the British landscape. Some individual trees have survived for many centuries, and their presence in ancient churchyards and sacred places has surrounded the species with stories of death, longevity and renewal. Its strong, flexible wood also became famously associated with the longbow.

THE ART

Yew can be spectacular. Pale sapwood contrasts with rich orange, reddish and brown heartwood, while twisting grain, knots and irregular growth can create extraordinary patterns. In miniature, those contrasts can make each piece of Tree Art unmistakably individual.
